12-year-old charged for using indecent language, granted $3K bail

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has charged a 12-year-old boy with indecent language, setting his bail at $3,000.

According to the RVIPF, the boy was arrested on November 22 in the Greenland area after reportedly hurling profanities at police officers.

“During a routine patrol in the Greenland area on November 22, officers encountered a group of young men. Upon seeking information, a 12-year-old individual in the group began to behave in a disorderly manner towards the officers,” police told BVI News. “Despite efforts to de-escalate the situation, the individual continued to engage in inappropriate conduct. As a result, he was arrested and charged with indecent language.”

The RVIPF also reported that another member of the group, a 15-year-old from Greenland, had been arrested earlier on November 6 for unlawful possession of a controlled drug. He was also granted $3,000 bail.
