2024 Governor's Cup: A triumph for Barney & team Airgasm!

ROAD HARBOUR, Tortola, VI- On Saturday, April 20, 2024, the Royal British Virgin Islands Yacht Club (RBVIYC) hosted the 2024 Governor's Cup. The forecast wasn’t hopeful with less that 10 knots forecast; however, the wind came in above forecast, which allowed for three very exciting races to take place.

There were a total of 9 boats out, 8 of which were in the Multihull class, which made an impressive sight on the start line off Slaney Point.

All in all about 42 sailors were out enjoying the racing in the morning.

Lucky 7

According to the RBVIYC, race one was a short windward leeward course leaving “Hog Valley Green” to port and it really put the sailors to the test. There were challenges when heading upwind with puffs of wind coming off the land. However, this just made it more interesting with a game of snakes and ladders occurring throughout the morning. The upwind challenges were met in equal parts in the downwind with some boats having issues with their spinnakers. It was a thoroughly challenging race for sailors.
