Adaliah’s Light: A Thanksgiving Reflection on the Life of a Remarkable Young Woman

As the Thanksgiving and holiday season approaches, the Fountain family of St. Thomas finds themselves navigating profound grief.

Yet, amidst the sorrow of losing their beloved Adaliah Fountain, a 19-year-old honor student and devout Christian, they are choosing gratitude for the precious years they were blessed to share with her. Adaliah, described as a jewel of her family, touched countless lives with her kindness, faith, and generosity. Even in death, her impact continues to shine through the five lives she saved as an organ donor, exemplifying her loving spirit.

A Jewel of the Family

Adaliah, who graduated with high honors from the prestigious Charlotte Amalie High School earlier this year, was a source of immense pride for her family. Her grandmother, Daphne Fountain, shared that Adaliah was a granddaughter like no other—a young woman who never gave her a moment of worry. “She was truly the jewel of our family,” Daphne remarked. “Her kind spirit made her special. She brought light and love wherever she went.”  Her sister, Adajah, reflected on the profound bond they shared. “Adaliah had the kindest heart,” she said. “It’s comforting to know that her heart now beats in the body of an 11-year-old elementary school student who has been given a second chance at life because of her sacrifice.”
