Hon Wheatley disclosed this during the launch of a Customer Service Care Centre in Virgin Gorda on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

He said that among developments on the Sister Islands is an ATM. The House of Assembly also met on Thursday, and among matters were the Schedules of Additional Provisions (SAP) Number 2 of 2025.

“I was going through the SAP,” he said, continuing, “One of the things I saw is there is funding for the ATM in Anegada, that is progress.”

First ATM for Anegada

Anegada, he said, has long been without an ATM. The Sister Island has never had an ATM. Once approved, this will be the first ATM on the island.

“I started working, it must have been ten years ago, and I’m happy to see it’s finally coming. It’s basically hard for Anegadians who don’t have a regular ferry service to have to go to Tortola,” Hon Wheatley said.

The SAP is still in the committee stage of the House.

It is unclear where the ATM will be placed; however, back in 2022, the BVI Ports Authority (BVIPA) had said it was looking at the possibility of having an ATM installed at the ferry dock on Anegada and that the banks in the Virgin Islands would be approached to see who would be willing to take on the initiative.
