USVI gets draw, BVI loses in final CFU tourney matches

Caribbean Football Union’s U-14

The U.S. Virgin Islands’ under-14 boys national soccer team got its first match point Tuesday, while the British Virgin Islands lost its final match in the Caribbean Football Union’s U-14 Boys Challenge Series tournament in Trinidad.

The Junior Dashing Eagles battled to a scoreless draw in its final group-play match against Tier II Group B frontrunner Turks and Caicos Islands in the opening match at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad. However, less than two hours later, the Junior Nature Boyz — fresh off winning their first tourney match over the USVI on Monday — suffered its third shutout loss, this time to Anguilla 3-0.

Despite the draw, Turks and Caicos Islands finished atop Group B with a 3-1-0 record (10 points), with Anguilla moving into a tie for second with Dominica, both at 2-1-1 (seven points). Anguilla advanced to the tourney semifinals thanks to a tiebreaker.
