WTO deputy promises continued support to strenghen trade with OECS member states

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States announced the Joahanna Hill, the World Trade Organization's deputy director-general made an official visit to OECS member states this month where dhe discussed matters of importance to the region.

Hill, according to an OECS statement, visited Grenada and St. Lucia, specifically and during her visit, discussed WTO-related matters to include ongoing negotiations for a fisheries subsidies agreement, trade in services, and investment facilitation for development, according to the statement.

She also discussed the role of the WTO in supporting climate action, agriculture and food security, and the reform of the WTO’s dispute settlement system.

In Grenada, Hill met with Hon. Joseph Andall, minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Export Development; Hon. Lennox Andrews, minister of Economic Development, Planning, Tourism, Creative Economy, Agriculture and Lands, Forestry, and Fisheries as well as Ronald Theodore, CEO of the Grenada Investment and Development Corporation and Patricia Clarke, permanent secretary for Trade and Export Development among others.
