Yacht Haven Grande Takes Major Step Toward Renewable Energy

Rooftop solar installation aims to provide a substantial share of the marina's energy needs, supporting a greener marina industry

This week, Yacht Haven Grande, an Island Global Yachting (IGY) marina, unveiled a rooftop photovoltaic generation solution that will supply “a meaningful share” of the property’s energy needs, according to an announcement from IGY.

“We are committed to working with our partners to find innovative ways to reduce our environmental impact and create a more sustainable future for the marina industry.” said Steven English, IGY’s president. “This solar project is a milestone for IGY’s renewable energy solutions and our ongoing commitment to sustainability initiatives across our global portfolio of industry-best marinas.”

With the solar array online, Yacht Haven Grande expects to reduce its reliance on electricity generated using fossil fuels, thus lowering its carbon footprint. “Additionally, the project will lessen demand on the local utility grid, freeing up power for use by the surrounding community,” the press release noted.
