Barbados To Explore Other Areas Of Cooperation With Mexico

Acting Prime Minister Santia Bradshaw is expressing renewed confidence in new areas of collaboration that can be pursued to the advantage of both nations as Barbados prepares to commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations with Mexico.

Victor Hugo Morales Meléndez, the Mexican ambassador to Barbados, recently paid a courtesy visit to the acting prime minister at Ilaro Court, where the two counterparts had extensive discussions on various topics.

Given the important work done by his predecessor, particularly during this year, which marks the friendship’s 50th anniversary, Bradshaw assured the ambassador that the government was delighted to collaborate with him.

“I want to wish you well for the coming years and to give Barbados the assurance that we look forward to being able to continue strengthening our bilateral partnership with Mexico,” she continued.

Ambassador Meléndez called Barbados a “wonderful and very important country.” However, he added that despite their long-standing friendship, they could still work together on global issues like climate change or sustainable development and in the academic world.
