Two brothers are sought in a shooting Thursday afternoon at the Tide Village service station on St. Croix that left the victim paralyzed, the V.I. Police Department said.

The 911 emergency call center received a report of a shooting at the service station just before 2 p.m. Thursday, according to the VIPD report.

Officers at the scene spoke with a man “who said he was shot by a Samuel Rivera and was also grabbed and struck by his brother Marcelino Rivera. He further stated that they were friends and claims not to know why they attacked him,” the VIPD report stated.

The victim sustained one gunshot to his chest and the projectile struck and lodged in his spinal column, causing paralysis, according to the report.

Forensics experts processed the scene and camera footage was collected that substantiated the victim’s accounts of the event, the report stated.
