Bryan taps new OMB head, speaks to disaster recovery projects

ST. CROIX — Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. introduced Julio Rhymer Sr. as his pick to lead the V.I. Office of Management and Budget during a Government House briefing on Monday.

During the announcement, Bryan introduced Rhymer as a “distinguished finance executive” with more than 30 years of experience who previously served as chief financial officer of both the V.I. Housing Finance Authority and the Water and Power Authority. Rhymer led the Management and Budget Office in 2018 under then-Gov. Kenneth Mapp.

“What I see here — in terms of my vision going forward for this organization — really, rebuilding the Office of Management and Budget going forward, one,” Rhymer said. “Two, really bringing accountability, efficiency and basically having the government move in an effective way.”
