A Flash Flood Watch means that moderate to major flooding is possible but not imminent in the watch area. Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas were urged to prepare for flooding to safeguard life and property. They were also encouraged to prepare to move to higher ground if flooding rains develop or a Flash Flood Warning is issued.
The watch is expected to remain in effect until midday today, Wednesday, August 14.
Tropical Storm Ernesto brought heavy rainfall to the BVI over the last 24 hours and is now approximately 87 miles west-northwest of Road Town. According to the Department of Disaster Management’s Tropical Update for the Virgin Islands, Ernesto is expected to strengthen further as it moves away from the territory.
