Daily News mourns longtime employee Thomas Morehead

V.I. Daily News employee Thomas W. Morehead is being remembered by friends, family and co-workers as an affable individual with effortless organizational skills who could be counted upon like clockwork.

Morehead, 56, died suddenly over the weekend.

In January, he would have marked a two-decade milestone as a media consultant with The Daily News. Morehead, who moved to the Virgin Islands from Indiana, began working with The Daily News in 2005 after initially working with Room with a View restaurant on St. Thomas. He would later relocate to St. Croix.

“The Daily News extends condolences to his family, sister Dana, brother Steve, and father Michael, as well as his close friends in both the Virgin Islands and Indiana,” Daily News Controller Juanita Young said on behalf of the company. Advertising Director Lisa Jamil, who was Morehead’s immediate supervisor, expressed “deep sadness” over news of his death, describing him as an “esteemed colleague and friend.”
