ST. THOMAS - Singing and laughter spilled out into the Red Hook Plaza parking lot as Duffy’s Love Shack celebrated their 30th Anniversary on Saturday.
“We celebrate 30 years every day - especially after hurricanes and COVID - we are happy to be here,” Liz Duffy, owner of Duffy’s Love Shack, told The Daily News. Duffy’s highlighted the milestone for the past week, with live musical performances and special food and drink deals, such as the 1995 happy hour. Drinks from the original bar were sold at 1995 prices, such as a Cruzan rum and coke for $1.50.
Liz also saw the anniversary as an opportunity to give back to the community by raising funds for My Brother’s Workshop. As of Sunday evening the bar raised over $4,000 for the nonprofit organization, with the sale of painkillers served in a Pusser’s Rum pint glass and 30th anniversary t-shirts reading, “30 years in a parking lot, who woulda thought?”
