Church of God Holiness Academy won the regional competition in the middle school category, while the St. Croix Educational Complex Team 2 won in the high school category. Competitions started at 10:00 a.m. but the final battle — between Complex Teams 1 & 2 — did not conclude until 7:20 p.m.
Sixteens teams consisting of a combined 80 students from across the territory participated, according to Science Bowl Coordinator for the St. Croix District, Joann Lewis. "We're so happy that the students came out and showed out," she said, adding that the competition "allows our students to show and demonstrate skills in the sciences."
Like the regional competition in the territory, teams across the United States are competing for the top spot. The format is designed to challenge students and encourage teamwork, quick thinking, and a deep understanding of scientific principles.
