Gun deaths contine to spiral, where are our leaders?

Dear Editor, When will someone hired to lead this territory stand up and earn their paycheck?

We wave a territory with less than 100,000 residents we already have more than 40 homicides reported.   The silence from our leaders is alarming. Mere weeks before 2024 slips into 2025, I am confident in my prediction that the homicide rate will continue to grow. Crime is an issue that needs continuous agitation to get it under control. The leadership response has been more reactionary which will not stamp this problem out.

I have been to several of our troubled communities where some of these homicides occur and seen the problems first hand that lead to the cycle of violence when left unchecked. One area in particular that must be looked in to is the consistent use of illegal drugs by our younger citizens that is growing out of control not to mention the addiction it causes.
