Guyana and Brazil sign agreement expanding daily direct bus routes
The government of Guyana announced on Monday that it has signed a new agreement with Brazil, paving the way for the introduction of direct bus routes between the two countries.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, this agreement falls under the Guyana/Brazil International Road Transport Agreement (IRTA). As a result, three international bus service routes have been established for transporting passengers between Brazil and Guyana. The buses operating these routes will run on a daily and twice-daily basis. There are specific requirements for the buses, which must be no older than eight years from the date of manufacture and have a seating capacity of at least 32 passengers. The agreement aims to enhance connectivity between the two countries and improve transportation options for travelers.
The ministry said that persons wishing to transport passengers must register as a Transporting Firm with the Commissioner of Customs & Trade Administration to be followed by a tax identification number (TIN) as well as a public proxy instrument granting a legal representative in Brazil full powers to represent the firm in all legal and administrative acts.
