Junior Tri VI to Host Run/Bike/Run for Ages 5-15 on Feb. 12

The Junior Tri VI Committee, a subgroup of the Virgin Islands Triathlon Federation, will hold this Sunday its first event of the new year on Sunday, Feb. 12. The You Make My Heart Race Junior Duathlon will take place at 8 a.m. at the Susana Ocasio Santana Park in Gallows Bay. Registration will begin at 7 a.m.

The run/bike/run event is open to kids of all abilities from ages 5 to 15, and it will take place completely within the park. The distances of each leg of the race for the four divisions increase with age, starting with the 5-6 division completing a .25-mile run, a .5-mile bike and a .25-mile run; the fourth group will finish with the 12-15 group completing a .5-mile run, a 3-mile bike and a 1-mile run.

The VITF will have bicycles to rent for a nominal fee. Participants can reserve one in advance by calling 513-2707. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age division; finishers’ ribbons and snacks will be provided to all participants.
