Lt. Gov.’s office collected $122M in revenue, still struggles to hire staff

ST. CROIX — Representatives from the Lieutenant Governor’s Office appeared before the Senate Finance Committee on Monday to provide a comprehensive operations update and defend the office’s 2025 budget request.

Chief of Staff Monica Williams Carbon led testimony on behalf of the agency, which oversees the Real Property Tax Division; the Recorder of Deeds; the Corporations and Trademarks Division; the Banking, Insurance and Financial Regulation Division; the Geospatial Information Systems Division; and several other divisions and programs.

The Office of the Lieutenant Governor collected an estimated $122 million in revenue during the current fiscal year and projects collecting closer to $123.5 million in fiscal year 2025, Carbon testified. The proposed 2025 Executive Budget recommended a slightly reduced allocation to the office for the coming year, totalling nearly $7.2 million from the General Fund.
