PIP delegation presents its first legislative measures

THE CAPITOL – The delegation of the Puerto Rican Independence Party (PIP) presented its first legislative measures on Tuesday, focused on issues such as environmental protection, labor rights, education, homelessness, crime and political status, among others.

"As an opposition delegation, we have the responsibility to monitor, supervise and keep alive the agenda of change for which almost a third of the country voted," said Senate spokeswoman María de Lourdes Santiago Negrón during a press conference on Capitol Hill.  For his part, Denis Márquez Lebrón, speaker in the Chamber, reaffirmed his commitment to legislate in favor of social protections and human rights. "We will continue to monitor the government and we will be firm in our position on issues such as the cancellation of the contract with Luma Energy, always defending the efficient electricity service that the people deserve," said Márquez Lebrón.

The delegation includes Senator Adrián González Costa and Representatives Adriana Gutiérrez Colón and Nelie Lebrón Robles, who highlighted the diversity and strength of their team. González Costa urged legislative majorities to prioritize public policies that benefit all citizens without partisan distinction.
