Seven-year-old twin brothers praised as heroes for helping save drowning man at Magens Bay

ST. THOMAS — Thanks to the quick action of two 7-year-old boys on St. Thomas, a man was saved from drowning in Magens Bay.

Kruz and Stefon Wilson, who attend Joseph Sibilly Elementary School, were at Magens Bay with their father, Kemel Wilson, recently when a day out on the water turned into an emergency rescue. The boys were out kayaking on the far right side of Magens Bay when a man on a boat went overboard into the water.

“We could see he was under the water,” Stefon said. Those still on the boat called out for help, and the twin brothers paddled over. Kruz got off his mini kayak and offered it to the man in the water to keep him a float. “We were not scared,” Kruz said of the incident. “We started swimming when we were 3-years-old, and we could swim in the ocean at 5-years-old,” Stefon added.
