St. Croix Jury Convicts Daryl Jean-Baptiste of Involuntary Manslaughter in Fatal 2019 Collision

Found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, 26-year-old Daryl Jean-Baptiste now faces up to five years in prison for a 2019 Sion Farm crash that claimed the life of 24-year-old Davindra Ramsundar Jr., following a three-day trial before Judge Ross Edwards.

A Superior Court jury has found 26-year-old Daryl Jean-Baptiste guilty of involuntary manslaughter in connection with a fatal 2019 crash that claimed the life of 24-year-old Davindra Ramsundar Jr. The verdict came at the end of a three-day trial that concluded on July 23, 2025, before Judge Yvette Ross Edwards in the St. Croix District.

The incident occurred on November 3, 2019, in Sion Farm, where Jean-Baptiste was involved in a vehicle collision that led to Ramsundar’s death. Although the jury acquitted Jean-Baptiste of the charge of negligent homicide by means of a motor vehicle, they unanimously convicted him of the lesser offense of involuntary manslaughter. He now faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date by the court.
