ORIGINAL STORY: ST. CROIX — Virgin Islands authorities are searching for a St. Croix man who remains at large in connection with an alleged Medicaid fraud scheme that has resulted in multiple arrests of Department of Human Services employees and their associates. The Virgin Islands Police Department has issued a wanted bulletin for Akim Noel Davis, 35, who is sought on charges related to Medicaid fraud. Davis has not yet been located following arrests announced Wednesday by the Virgin Islands Department of Justice.
According to the DOJ, Davis is the husband of Shantenysha Victor, a Medicaid Program employee who has been arrested and charged as part of a broader investigation into alleged fraud involving the Medicaid and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. The DOJ said the investigation uncovered what investigators described as intentional misuse of government computer systems to alter or override eligibility safeguards, resulting in the unlawful disbursement of Medicaid funds. Authorities said the investigation spans approximately 20 months and has led to charges against multiple DHS employees, family members, and associates.
