Former Sen. Milton A. Frett, who was twice elected to the V.I. Legislature, is being mourned following his death Tuesday in California.
Frett, affectionately known as “Bull”, also served as police commissioner and was widely known as a talented cook. “Mr. Frett will be remembered not only for his service in the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Legislatures, but also for his decades of public service in law enforcement,” said Senate President Novelle Francis Jr., who has essentially followed in Frett’s footsteps as police commissioner, and now senator and businessman.
Francis is on his second tenure serving as president of the V.I. Legislature, and he expressed condolences on behalf of the 35th Legislature. “Milton Frett was a transformational leader of the Virgin Islands Police Department. Through his initiative, new policies, rules and regulations were established. He also created new divisions in the Department to best meet and serve the needs of the community,” Francis said in a prepared statement. “Whether you knew him from his time as a senator, police commissioner or business owner, Milton “Bull” Frett will be remembered for his love of our community and legacy of service to the people of the Virgin Islands.”
