VIPA, Cruise Lines in Productive Talks on Future of St. Thomas Harbor and Port Fees Ahead of Dredging Next Year

In a move to boost tourism, VIPA provides cruise industry leaders with updates on the Charlotte Amalie Harbor project and proposed port dues, ensuring mutual goals and strengthened relationships.

The V.I. Port Authority officials met with members of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (F-CCA) on Wednesday to provide an update on the upcoming dredging of the Charlotte Amalie Harbor in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and VIPA's proposal to increase its port dues. According to VIPA, this project is scheduled to begin next year, according to VIPA, with the authority's executive director, Carlton Dowe, along with other VIPA officials meeting with F-CCA Chief Executive Officer Michelle Paige, and executives from Carnival Cruise Line, MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Royal Caribbean Group. The meeting, which took place at F-CCA’s headquarters in Miramar, FL was a productive dialogue between the authority and key officials of the cruise lines that frequently visit the USVI, according to Mr. Dowe.
