The Labor Day 5K on St. Croix took place at 6 a.m., Monday, Sept. 2, and had a dry start.
A rainy middle and an overcast finish. The 3.1-mile run event was held on a point-to-point course where the start was at Southgate and the finish at the Fort in Christiansted. The Labor Day race had 38 participants.
Congratulations to overall winner Ayden Cintron, an 11th-grade student at Good Hope Country Day, Cintron had a blazing time of 17:55. His teammate from the Panthers Cross Country team, Nathan Langley, was second in 18:08. Rounding out the podium was another Panther runner, Thomas Crikelair, in a time of 18:55.
The run coach of the top three finishers, Bridget Klein, was the top female finisher in a time of 19:40. Julie Sommer was second in 24:20, and Megan Mault finished in third with a time of 24:27. In the U18 category, Vedant Mittal was first (20:01), Cole Cullinan was second (20:09) and Nick Crikelair was third (20:11). Olivia Crikelair gave a great run as the sole U18 female participant and crossed the line in 25:19.
