Bovoni Landfill Reopens for Green Waste With Limited Access for Commercial Haulers After Last Year’s Major Fire

After a year-long closure due to a costly fire, Bovoni Landfill will accept green waste from commercial haulers on August 19, 21, and 23, with limited hours, according to the Waste Management Authority

A bulletin from the Waste Management Authority advises that this week, green waste will be accepted at the Bovoni Landfill.‌ However, the landfill will accept deliveries only from commercial haulers, and only on Monday August 19, Wednesday August 21, and Friday August 23 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The landfill has not accepted green waste since a major fire, started in an area designated for vegetative matter, burned and smoldered for over 20 days last September, costing over $1 million to extinguish.
