DPW announces ’emergency’ road closure in St. Thomas

CHARLOTTE AMALIE — The Virgin Islands Department of Public Works has announced an “emergency road closure” on Crystal Gade and segments of Raadets Gade in St. Thomas.

The road work begins today, Tuesday, November 26 between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to DPW.  DPW contractor –Island Roads Inc.– will close the roadway to continue paving. Parked and abandoned vehicles are currently impeding the contractor from proceeding. The department is asking all vehicle owners to remove their vehicles from the roadsides during work hours to ensure roadwork continues as scheduled.  The Department of Public Works appreciates the community’s patience as they work to improve road conditions throughout the territory.
