East End Man accused of assaulting ex-girlfriend granted $30K bail

BVI News can confirm that 37-year-old Aquino Gumbs of East End/Long Look has been formally charged in connection with a recent violent incident involving his ex-girlfriend at Nottingham Estate.

Gumbs is facing several charges, including common assault, criminal damage, criminal trespassing, and being armed with an offensive weapon. He was granted bail in the sum of $30,000 with strict conditions attached.

As part of his bail conditions, Gumbs is required to report to the police station daily between the hours of 6 a.m. and 12 midnight. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 23, 2025.

Gumbs is being represented by attorney E. Leroy Jones.

As previously reported by BVI News, the incident occurred last week after Gumbs allegedly forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s home, where she was reportedly with her current partner and teenage daughter. After allegedly entering the house through a window, Gumbs reportedly attacked the woman, delivering a brutal beating in front of her family.

The woman’s partner attempted to intervene but was allegedly threatened by Gumbs, who is said to have pulled a weapon. The man fled the scene and filed a report with the police, leading to Gumbs’ subsequent arrest.
