Everyone frustrated by poor gov’t communication

Former government minister Shereen Flax-Charles said Virgin Gorda and the other sister islands are not unique in the frustrations they face due to poor communication from government agencies.

Flax-Charles was speaking to ZBVI radio following recent complaints about the downed ambulance service on Virgin Gorda (VG). According to the Health Minister, the ambulance was taken out of service for routine maintenance.

However, Flax-Charles said this wasn’t communicated promptly.

“A lot of it is a lack of communication. If people know that something broke down or that something is going to happen, they will understand and make provisions. But the communication piece isn’t there. While the sister islands are at a disadvantage, the problem exists in Tortola as well,” Flax-Charles explained.

She added: “I think the entire territory is fed up because from what I am seeing it’s not only happening on Virgin Gorda. I get the calls on a regular basis from those on Tortola, I see it in chats where we have to make calls to try and help people who have water and electricity problems. Some government agencies are trying to do better with communication but when it comes to the Health authorities, I’m not sure what the issue is with the lack of communication.”
