FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI- In a recent announcement, Governor Albert A. Bryan Jr named Moleto A. Smith Jr as the new executive director of the [US] VI Law Enforcement Planning Commission.

Mr. Smith, with over thirty years of diverse experience encompassing government operations, healthcare, and emergency management, will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this crucial position, according to Gov't House, which added that his extensive background positions him uniquely for the challenges and responsibilities of the role.

In his career, Mr. Smith has held notable positions within the V.I. Department of Human Services, including the roles of interim and acting commissioner and deputy commissioner. Beyond the government sector, he has been at the helm of the St. Thomas East End Medical Center Corporation and the British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority, though his tenure at the former faced scrutiny.

These leadership roles, Gov't House said, have highlighted his skills in health and community service, key areas that are expected to be beneficial in his new position.
