Identity Theft Investigation Leads to Arrest of 26-Year-Old Woman

ST. CROIX — The V.I. Police Department announced the arrest of 26-year-old Love Shinaydine Pluviose on charges of identity theft and additional fraud-related offenses. The arrest occurred in the early hours of March 15 following a detailed investigation by the department’s Economic Crimes Unit.

The investigation, which began on June 23, 2021, uncovered that Pluviose, along with an accomplice, had fraudulently used another individual’s identity to receive medical treatment at Juan F. Luis Hospital on two occasions. This unauthorized use of identity resulted in the victim incurring over $3,600 in medical expenses.

Pluviose turned herself in to authorities on Friday and was formally charged with identity theft, acting in an assumed character, making fraudulent claims on the government, fraudulent insurance claims, and participating in frauds on creditors. After her processing and booking, she was granted bail set at $5,500.
