Travellers in the BVI will soon have more options for regional travel, as LIAT 2020 enters the market, offering a special $99 one-way fare for its inaugural flight.
The service will launch from Beef Island on November 29, just in time for the busy Christmas season. Elena Dyer, LIAT 2020’s Head of Commercial and Corporate Sales, and Executive Emeka Roberts have been in the BVI preparing for this launch. They are collaborating with local travel agents to create a flight schedule tailored to the needs of residents. Speaking on ZBVI radio, Dyer expressed excitement about reconnecting the BVI with the wider Caribbean. “We are connecting you back to the rest of the Caribbean. We are very excited at LIAT 2020,” she said.
To celebrate the launch, the airline is offering a promotional one-way fare of $99, plus taxes, for travel from the BVI to destinations such as Dominica and Antigua. This fare applies to flights between November 29 and December 12, with only 48 seats available under this offer. After December 12, the airline will revert to its regular fare structure. LIAT 2020, based in Antigua and Barbuda, aims to provide reliable, affordable, and convenient air travel for the region. According to Dyer, the company is focused on improving regional connectivity. “What we are striving to do is ensure that we connect the north to the south and back up,” she stated. “I think regional travel, it’s somewhat burdensome.”
