Liberty: AT&T Outage Affecting Customers Not Yet Migrated to Liberty System

Liberty Communications customers in the U.S. Virgin Islands may be experiencing outages connected to a nationwide AT&T outage, the company announced Thursday.

“This is affecting some of our customers who have not yet migrated to our system. We are in continuous communication with AT&T and they assure us that they are working diligently to resolve this issue as soon as possible,” Liberty said in a statement.

According to national news reports, most of AT&T’s network had been restored by late Thursday morning. The disruption left customers unable to make calls, text or access the internet. Verizon and T-Mobile reported network issues as well, but were not as heavily affected.

Liberty completed its acquisition of AT&T’s wireless and wireline operations in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2020, and issues with the migration from AT&T to Liberty remain ongoing, the company has said.
