Man arrested at Sion Farm laundromat and charged with rape of underage girl

CHRISTIANSTED — A St. Croix man has been arrested in connection to the rape of an underage girl that took place nine months ago. Jason Tuitt, 47, has been arrested and charged with first-degree rape, the Virgin Islands Police Department said. Detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigation Bureau executed an arrest warrant on Tuitt at 12:46 p.m. on May 22, 2024, according to the VIPD.

Police only publicized the arrest of Tuitt today on Facebook. The arrest took place at Neighborhood Laundromat in Sion Farm, according to police. After informing Tuitt that they had a warrant for his arrest, he surrendered to officers without incident. The arrest warrant was issued following a report of rape on October 16, 2023, police said.
