Man arrested for attempting to smuggle cannabis into VI - J’Quoi Lloyd allegedly brought the prohibited substance via ferry from St Thomas

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- A man who allegedly attempted to smuggle cannabis into the Virgin Islands through the Road Town Ferry Terminal has been arrested and charged.

J’Quoi Lloyd, 26, of Valley, Virgin Gorda, has been slabbed with several drug-related charges, including Possession of a Controlled Drug with Intent to Supply to Another and Untrue Declaration and Importation of a Controlled Drug.

According to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) in a press release today, October 7, 2024, the charges follow a joint operation between RVIPF officers and Customs officials at the Road Town Ferry Terminal on September 9, 2024.

Lloyd had just arrived from STT- RVIPF

“During routine inspections, a quantity of suspected cannabis was recovered from a package claimed by Lloyd, who had just arrived on a ferry from St Thomas, USVI. Lloyd was arrested at the scene, transported to the Road Town Police Station for further questioning, and was subsequently charged,” the press release stated.
