ST. CROIX — A group of bicycle riders will take to the streets of Christiansted tonight as they seek justice for one of their own.
Christiansted Mango Tree Rides will host “Justice for Selah Ride”, a memorial bicycle ride and vigil in memory of member Walton “Selah” Macedon, who was gunned down near his home last month. Gary Nicholas, one of the organizers, said the bicycle ride will honor Macedon’s life and the legacy. The ride is also a reminder to the community that Macedon’s killer has not yet been apprehended.
“Selah was well known and well respected in our community. He was an important part of our bike crew. He was one of the people who started this and kept it going,” Nichols said, adding that “his tragic and violent death has touched so many people — the guys wanted to do something like this to embrace his spirit.” Macedon, 67, was leaving his home in Golden Rock just before 8 a.m. Oct. 20 for his routine Sunday ride with Mango Tree Riders, when he was fatally wounded after being ambushed and shot multiple times.
