Despite case numbers continuing to decline steadily over the last few weeks, the BVI’s COVID-related death toll has now climbed to 62 persons.
According to the Ministry of Health’s latest COVID-19 dashboard, positive cases have now reached 69 persons.
At the start of the year, the BVI had recorded as many as 1,220 COVID-19 positive cases, with hospitalisations climbing to as many as 12 persons at some stage.
In the January 6th release of the territory’s epidemiological summary, the BVI recorded 40 deaths and 958 COVID-19 positive cases. Since then, there have been more than 20 deaths recorded as being COVID-19 related.
In the latest epidemiological summary released by the Health Ministry on February 15, six persons are recorded as being hospitalised.
Positive COVID-19 cases on Tortola currently stand at 63 persons while there are some 13 cases on Virgin Gorda and a further five cases on Jost van Dyke.
