Police seize $4M worth of cocaine

The police have stepped up their crime-fighting activities amid a sharp uptick in gun-related incidents, recently seizing approximately 40 kilograms of cocaine.

Acting Deputy Police Commissioner Kenrick Davis said a large amount of cash was also confiscated, and several individuals have been arrested.

“We conducted several overt and covert investigations around several individuals suspected to be involved in gun-related incidents. So far, we’ve recovered 40 [kilograms] of cocaine with a street value of $4 million, over $20,000 in bulk cash, we’ve traced, identified and recovered several bits of evidence and we’ve arrested several individuals who remain in custody,” ACP Davis said at a press conference on Friday, May 16.

He added that these discoveries are the result of improved strategic partnerships with other local law enforcement agencies, as well as new partnerships with agencies outside the territory.

“These include the Financial Investigations Agency, Customs and Immigration, the Prison Service and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution. We’ve established a joint intelligence working cell that consists of all these local partners as well as regional and international partners,” ACP Davis said.
