Premier announces plans to sponsor Caribbean Baking Awards

Premier Dr. Natalio Wheatley has announced plans to sponsor the Caribbean Baking Awards (CBAs) in February 2025.

In the Facebook broadcast this week, Dr Wheatley, who is also the Minister of Tourism and Finance, stated that he is not only sponsoring the event but is also willing to pay double the amount he previously sponsored in 2023. “I don’t think I should make a habit of just announcing how much I’m giving various businesses; when people make proposals, we evaluate those proposals based on what we can see as the overall merits of it,” the Premier stated.

“Based on what I saw from the Glasgows last year, I’m very happy to double what I gave them next year,” the Premier added. The Caribbean Baking Awards celebrates the finest bakers and confectioners in the region, recognising excellence and creativity. It will take place on February 21 and 22, 2025. This annual event, now in its second year, is organised by Shanda Webster-Glasgow will be held at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Road Town. The awards gala will feature nominees from various Caribbean islands, including the BVI, with 70 bakers nominated and eight from the BVI.
