Public Session on Federal Resume Writing Announced by National Park Service

The National Park Service (NPS) is set to host a special public session focused on resume writing for federal jobs on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the Virgin Islands National Park. This educational workshop will take place at the Virgin Islands National Park Visitor Center in Cruz Bay, St. John, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., aiming to equip Virgin Islanders with crucial skills for navigating the federal job application process.

Human Resource Specialists from the NPS's Southeast Regional Office will spearhead the session, covering essential topics such as "Writing Your Federal Resume," "Writing An Effective Resume," and key tips on what to avoid in resume writing. The session is designed to prepare participants for upcoming hiring opportunities within the National Park Service, ensuring they are well-equipped to be competitive candidates.

Scott Simmons, Acting Superintendent of Virgin Islands National Park and Virgin Islands Coral Reef National Monument, emphasized the importance of this session for local job seekers. "We anticipate hiring positions later this year, and we want Virgin Islanders to have these resume skills so that they can be competitive in the hiring process," said Simmons. He further noted, "A session like this gives future applicants the opportunity to ask questions and understand the federal application process."
