Summer budget hearings near a close, but the 34th Legislature has a full week ahead.
On Monday, the 34th Legislature’s Committee on Finance will meet in St. Thomas. It will consider the budget proposal for the St. Thomas East End Medical Center and two lease agreements:
Bill No. 34-0275 - An Act approving the lease agreement between the Government of the Virgin Islands Department of Property and Procurement and Caribe Tradewinds Lodge No. 17, Inc., District No. 8 for the purpose of conducting meetings, community outreach activities, feeding the homeless, mentoring youth, and for other related purposes.
Bill No. 34-0278 - An Act approving the Lease Agreement between the Government of the Virgin Islands, acting through the Commissioner of the Department of Property and Procurement and On the Level d/b/a OTL MECHANICAL for the leasing of Parcel No. 69 Submarine Base, No. 4 Southside Quarter, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
On Tuesday, a regular session of the 34th Legislature will convene in the Earle B. Ottley Legislative Hall on St. Thomas.
Lawmakers will consider the following nominations:
BR No. 22-1164 - A Resolution to reorganize the Thirty-Fourth Legislature of the Virgin Islands to fill a vacancy in the Majority Caucus.
The Legislature will convene as the Committee of the Whole to consider the following measures:
Bill No. 34-0289 - An Act amending Act No. 8474 relating to the fiscal year 2022 operating budget for the Government of the Virgin Islands to appropriate the sum of $40,000,000 to pay outstanding liabilities from the General Fund in the fiscal year ending September 30, 2022.
BR No. 22-1186 - An Act ratifying the Redevelopment Agreement by and between the Government of the Virgin Islands and CREF3 USVI Hotel Owner, Inc., a United States Virgin Islands corporation.
The Legislature will reconvene into a Regular Session to consider the following bill:
Bill No. 34-0244 - An Act amending title 27 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 4, section 191(a) and (d) to expand and clarify the definition of naturopathic medicine and the physical modalities used in the practice of naturopathy.
On Wednesday, the Committee on Finance will meet for a budget wrap-up at 9:00 a.m. on St. Thomas. The committee will receive updated testimony from the Governor’s Financial Team on the proposed Fiscal Year 2023 Executive Budget for the Government of the Virgin Islands of the United States.
Budget wrap-ups will continue on Thursday and Friday to wrap up the week ahead.
