Restoration Achieved: WAPA Unit 23 Back Online, Rotational Outages End in STT/STJ

The V.I. Water & Power Authority announced Wednesday night that Unit 23, which had been offline prompting rotational outages across the St. Thomas and St. John (STT/STJ) district, is now operational after successful repairs, ending the recent schedule of rotational outages.

The restoration of service follows intense efforts by WAPA plant personnel who managed to configure a replacement transducer, bringing the unit back to full functionality, the authority said. This repair is a crucial step in stabilizing the power supply to the area, which had been experiencing outages that affected many residents and businesses.

WAPA expressed its appreciation for the community's patience during this period, recognizing the challenges and inconveniences caused by the outages. The authority stressed that its team, comprising members of the local community who were themselves impacted by the power interruptions, worked diligently and with urgency to ensure a safe and swift resolution.
