The VI Housing Authority has eliminated its assistant director of resident wellness position and created a new human resources director role to strengthen internal operations, while also approving $1 million in property repair contracts and legal services
The V.I. Housing Authority has decided to tweak its organizational structure, eliminating an assistant director position and creating a role for a human resources director.
When the VIHA board met on Tuesday, resolution 3730 was one of those approved. The resolution called on commissioners to make the change in order to align with the entity's strategic goals. Executive Director Dwayne Alexander reminded commissioners that the change was approved by the board last December. Now that the position of assistant director of resident wellness has become vacant, it will not be filled. “We have adequate staff over there,” he noted.
Instead, “we desperately need an HR director.” That individual would “oversee the development of HR policies and practices, manage employee relations, and contribute to executive decision making,” he said.
