West Indian trio to make Big Bash League debuts in 2024-25 season

West Indian cricketers Shai Hope, Sherfane Rutherford, and Fabian Allen are set to make their debut in Australia’s premier T20 competition, the Big Bash League (BBL), after being selected in the highly anticipated 2024-25 player draft, which was held on Sunday.

Shai Hope, renowned for his solid batting prowess, was chosen by the Hobart Hurricanes in the coveted platinum category. The decision to pick Hope was strongly influenced by the Hurricanes’ head coach, Ricky Ponting, who previously coached Hope during the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season with the Delhi Capitals.

Joining Hope in making his Big Bash debut is Sherfane Rutherford, who was selected by the Sydney Thunder in the silver category. Rutherford, known for his explosive batting and handy bowling, is expected to bring dynamic energy to the Thunder’s line-up.
