Senate panel votes to subpoena reps of St. Croix race track developer

ST. CROIX — Members of the Senate Committee on Culture, Youth, Aging, Sports and Parks Committee, voted to subpoena developers of the Randall “Doc” James Race Track on St. Croix.

Committee chairperson, At-Large Sen. Angel Bolques Jr., opened a meeting on Friday by lauding 7-year-old twins Kruz and Stefon Wilson for helping a man in distress at Magens Bay several weeks ago, before pivoting to VIGL.

He expressed “some very deep disappointment” with the company for what he described as repeated refusals to engage with either the community or the committee, despite “many invitations” to report on development of the race track.

“And it is unacceptable for them to do so when we have asked them on many, many occasions to come to this committee to report,” he said, “and the time for leniency is over. There is no more patience left with this chairman concerning that entity.”
