Fitz Bailey appointed acting commissioner of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Fitz Bailey, former head of the crime and security portfolio at the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), has been appointed Acting Commissioner of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force. He assumed the role on November 22, 2024, according to a release from the Turks and Caicos police.

Fitz Bailey had been serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Turks and Caicos Islands since October 7, 2024, with an initial six-week tenure. During this time, he worked closely with Police Commissioner Edvin Martin, who went on leave on October 1. According to a Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) report, Bailey’s appointment as Acting Commissioner of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force follows this period of collaboration. Bailey retired in September 2024 from his post as deputy commissioner in the JCF, after serving more than 40 years in the constabulary.

During his four decades of service, Bailey held various roles, including leadership of the Fraud Squad and responsibility for the JCF’s crime portfolio. His legacy includes his commitment to public safety and upholding the principles and policies that have shaped the force.
