Long-time rivals on field, BVIFA, USVISF sign cooperation agreement

The Virgin Islands’ two national soccer governing bodies, whose teams have been long-time rivals on the playing field, have come to an agreement to work together on future projects.

The U.S. Virgin Islands Soccer Federation and the British Virgin Islands Football Association have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that officials said would have the two bodies work together on projects to strengthen development and participation across both territories.

The memorandum, announced Friday in a joint press release issued by the USVISF, was witnessed by senior officials from both FIFA — international soccer’s governing body — and CONCACAF, which governs the sport in North and Central America and the Caribbean.
