According to the VIPD, at approximately 12:50 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2025, 911 received a report of a non-responsive male in the area of Flamboyant, Estate Mahogany, Christiansted. Officers and Emergency Medical Technicians responded to the location, where they confirmed that a male individual showed no signs of life.

Family members at the scene identified the deceased as Michael Springer, 50 years old, police said. The cause of death has not been determined and remains pending findings from the Office of the Medical Examiner.

The VIPD stated that the investigation is ongoing and that no foul play is suspected at this time.  Earlier in the day, VIPD Director of Communications Glen Dratte confirmed that the Criminal Investigation Bureau had responded to the residence after police were notified of the incident.
