Premier shuts down reporter’s ‘personal questions’

Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley ended a tense exchange with a reporter who questioned him about personal matters yesterday.

The Premier described the inquiries as “false” and stressed that they were inappropriate for discussion. The confrontation arose during a press briefing when Guava Berry Media’s Cindy Rosan asked the Premier about medical service debts and concerns about school safety before moving to questions that appeared to surround his personal life.

“There’s a lot going on in the ministries that report to you. Debts for lack of basic medical service, paedophiles in public schools not being sent home just to save face, and you being served court papers for lack of certain commitments,” Rosan alleged.

“I’m not quite sure what you’re talking about…” Premier Wheatley responded. “You spoke about these ministries that report to me. I’m not quite sure what you [mean]. Each ministry has a minister that’s been appointed with responsibility. Each ministry has ministers appointed to oversee issues in the territory."
