Education in Dominica benefits from $20,000 donation of computers by Harris Paints

Education services in Dominica received more than $20,000 in computer resources to brighten lives as a result of Harris Paints’ end-of-year promotion.

Retail Services Manager, Roslyn Sorhaindo, extended thanks to all the customers who supported the program as well as Harris distributors who played a key role in raising funds to positively impact the experience of students, teachers, and schools.

During The Harris “All the Christmas Feels” Promotion last year, EC$0.50 was given back for education, on every gallon of paint sold on the local market. In addition, Harris Paints loyal distributors were asked to contribute EC$500.00 to make a bigger impact. One distributor agreed to give EC$5.00 on every gallon which generated EC$3,565.00.

In total, EC$20,389.50 was raised through this venture which was used to procure computers.

Through the Ministry of Education, the computers were donated to the various government high schools to assist with the Technical Drawing syllabus. A computer was also donated to The Alpha Center, a needy child, a teacher, and the Ministry of Education. All principals expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the Harris Paints initiative.

The Technical Drawing program is designed to help candidates develop an understanding and appreciation of the subject and requirements by industry. Students develop skills related to technical drawing and computer-aided drafting and process of design.
